Another Year of Books

Welcome to my blog. Where reading a lot of books is the goal.

Surprise! It’s already mid-November. The year is continuing to fly by. I’m looking forward to the Christmas cookies, and Thanksgiving dinner. Not looking forward to thinking about Christmas gifts. Too soon, Father Time, too soon. But on another note, not too many books left to read!

Book Read: Surprise Me
Author: Sophie Kinsella
Number of Books Read: 47

Sylvie and Dan are comfortable. Comfortable in their marriage, their jobs, and at home with their two daughters. Then they are told life expectancy is increasing and with their good health, Sylvie and Dan should expect another 68 years together.

Needless to say, this does not put either of their minds at ease. How can they be the same for 68 years? So Sylvie proposes an idea - they begin surprising each other to keep things fun.

Project Surprise Me leads to comical, and sometimes disastrous results. Enter the wrong friend from college, a secret love of gardening, and a pet snake, and you’ll see why.

The surprises leads to the revealing of a scandal from the past, making everyone wonder if they really knew each other at all.

I’ve read a good amount of Sophie Kinsella’s books. From Confessions of a Shopaholic (liked the book, not the movie) to her most recent My Not So Perfect Life, I’d say I’ve read the majority.

Surprise Me was a quirky, colorful read. The characters are fun, including some of the supporting. You’ll be rooting for Sylvie and Dan and the next 68 years. Some of the surprises are actually pretty funny and Kinsella writes with a bit of wit.

Overall, a witty, charming and fun book like this will get you through to the holidays. May also distract you when you are stuck at a family gathering. Just a thought.
